Charles W. Sawyer Jr.

Charles W. Sawyer Jr. is the managing partner and founder of Sawyer Wealth Management and has been providing financial planning services for more than thirty years. His primary focus is working with pre-retirees, retirees and their families in the areas of financial planning and estate planning. Charles also focuses on the complex needs of small business owners, corporate executives and employer sponsored retirement plans. Professionally, Charles is a Certified Estate Planner, Registered Financial Consultant and a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table's Top of the Table. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Baltimore Estate planning Council. He currently sits on the board of the Better Business Bureau's Greater Baltimore Chapter. Personally, Charles enjoys working with many charitable organizations including the Alzheimer's Association, Operation Home Front Council and the V Foundation. Charles and his wife, Jane, live in Hunt Valley, Maryland. They have six children and four grandchildren. Charles holds FINRA Series 6, 63, 26, and 65 licenses. In addition he is also licensed in Life and Health insurance.
Jane Sawyer
Partner, Vice President
Jane began her career in the medical field working alongside patients and assisting doctors. She worked her way up the ladder to office manager, where she resided for five years. She joined the business in 2008 and brought her valuable experience to the firm. Jane leads the operations function for the business, in addition to developing all operations processes and procedures. She works closely with Charles and the staff to develop and implement strategies that coincide with the objectives of the company and its clients. Jane is also licensed in life and health insurance. Outside of work Jane enjoys spending time with her family and cherishes every moment she gets to spend with her four grandchildren watching them grow and learn. Her commitment to family in and outside of work transcends into the Sawyer Wealth Management each and every day.
Brian Pacen
Wealth Advisor, Portfolio Manager, CFP® CRPC
Brian is a Certified Financial Planner® and also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Economics. Brian holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, 66, 9 and 10 licenses. In addition he is also licensed in Life and Health insurance and Property and Casualty insurance. Brian is a second generation wealth advisor that has dedicated over ten years to helping clients navigate some of their most important life events and decisions. He specializes in portfolio management, holistic financial planning and wealth management. Brian lives in Eldersburg with his wife, Jessica and son, Josh.
Jeanette Ratner
Director of Marketing
Jeanette Ratner is the Director of Marketing. Jeanette works primarily with retired individuals, their families, and those who are in the process of planning for their retirement. Jeanette also works with the Veterans Outreach Program helping veterans receive the financial assistance they need to insure their nursing home care. She makes time to be involved with professional associations as well as community organizations in Baltimore area that help seniors cope with the continually changing social and financial problems associated with aging. Jeanette has 4 children and 2 grandchildren.
Leah A. Gray
Senior Planning Associate, Executive Associate to the Managing Partner
Leah joined Sawyer Wealth Management in January 2014 and made an immediate impact. Bringing over 20 years of financial services experience, Leah's responsibilities span all spectrums but her primary responsibilities are assisting Charles and client planning. She is described by co­workers as confident, resourceful and amazing with clients. Leah is married and has a child and is also known for her wonderful singing voice. She has even serenaded clients at appreciation events.
Seth Bergen
Associate Wealth Advisor
Seth Bergen is an Associate Wealth Advisor and has been a financial advisor for 3 years. He graduated from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at University of Maryland with a B.S. Degree in Finance. His primary focus is working with young to middle-aged professionals in the areas of basic financial planning and risk management. He holds his FINRA Series 6, 63, & 65 licenses.

Michael Mannone*, Financial Advisor with Sawyer Wealth Management, has a long-standing tradition of helping clients accumulate and preserve wealth. He achieves this through strategic financial planning* based on quality investment and insurance products and services. His focus is on retirement planning, intergenerational wealth transfer and estate planning.

A dedicated financial professional since 1974, Mike’s practice is built on long-term business relationships. He assists his clients in every facet of their financial planning.

Outstanding service and a commitment to excellence have built a successful practice for Mike, largely through referrals from satisfied clients. A key to Mike’s success is his ability to establish and maintain close communications with his clients. He identifies his clients’ goals, needs and risk tolerance, and then tailors a strategy to fit their unique set of circumstances with an emphasis toward mitigating risk.

Mike earned his undergraduate degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmetsburg, Maryland, and is a firm believer in the value of ongoing education. Accordingly, he has earned the professional designation of Chartered Financial Consultant; Chartered Life Underwriter and Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow through the American College. He is also an Investment Advisor Representative with Client One Securities.

Away from the office, Mike’s focus is on his family. Mike and his wife Bernadette have been happily married for 42 years and live in Catonsville, Maryland. They have five children and are proud grandparents of 14 grandchildren.

Lisa Callender
New Business Team Leader
Lisa joined the Sawyer Wealth Management team after spending nearly 30 years working in the banking industry. In her role, processing client applications, her exceptional organizational skills are an asset to the firm. As New Business Team Lead, she also assists in client service follow-up and can quickly report on the status of pending cases and requests. Lisa is married to Jane and Jeanette's brother, Steven and has 2 sons.
Shawnna Weiss
Senior Client Services Associate
Shawnna joined our team in 2014 and is the Senior Client Service Associate. In this role, she does everything possible to improve the client experience with the firm while also ensuring that advisors can focus on client needs. Shawnna is a 2014 graduate of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, with a degree in biology. She enjoys the family atmosphere of Sawyer Wealth Management and enjoys assisting the clients. Her service oriented background and drive makes her a true asset. She and her husband, Andrew, enjoy traveling and are outdoors enthusiast.
Michael Hendrick

Mike Hendrick joined our team at The Sawyer Group in March 2015. Before joining us, he worked as an annuity new business specialist for more than 13 years, where he focused on reviewing and processing annuity cases, as well as consulting with agents. He is described by co-workers as extremely organized, confident and dependable. Mike and his wife live in Kansas City, MO with their two daughters Sydney and Hayley. In his spare time, he enjoys riding his bike and hiking.
Marie Murphy
Administrative Assistant
Marie joined the company in 2013 to work alongside her mother, Jane and stepfather, Charles. She started out working in the new business department processing applications and working closely with clients. She then decided to peruse her dream of teaching and headed back to school. She is currently enrolled in an Elementary Education program as an intern while still working in the office a few days a week. She is the front desk personal, office organizer and assistant event coordinator. She appreciates the family atmosphere at work and enjoys being able to work alongside so many family members every day. Outside of work Marie enjoys spending time with friends, catching up on her favorite shows and reading a good book.
Terri Szekely-Berry

Terri Szekely-Berry recently joined the Sawyer Wealth Management team. Her over 30 years of experience in the insurance/financial industry makes her a welcome addition. As a processor in our service area, Terri assist with processing of our brokerage accounts as well as client service follow-up and questions. Terry is married to Steven Berry and they have two daughters, Julia and Jessica.
Thomas Sawyer

Thomas has recently joined Sawyer Wealth Management to assist with client service. With his background in retail sales and customer service Tom is a welcome addition. His primary focus will be assisting the planning team with preparation for client meetings and reviews along with general office administrative projects. Tom is also Charles's son and continues the tradition of the Sawyer family working together.

With a big heart and a strong compassion for helping others, Jordan is committed to helping our Veterans receive the care and benefits they deserve through the aid and attendance benefit. Jordan's grandfather, father, Uncle and nephew proudly served in the US Navy and Airforce for many years. His personal commitment to the program comes from witnessing his family serve our country. Jordan loves working alongside his mother, Jane and stepfather, Charles. He is excited about learning the financial business side of Sawyer Wealth Management.

Larry earned his Juris Doctor Degree from The Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America in 1994. In May 1996, he opened Lawrence Adashek, P.A. to assist clients with all of their estate planning, elder law and business advisory service needs. Larry actively participates in a number of professional associations. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and is an officer and member of the Elder Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. He is also a frequent lecturer on the subjects of estate planning and elder law.
Chuck Geser

Chuck is a graduate of the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Economics. Chuck currently has his own accounting firm, after spending more than 10 years with a large regional certified public accounting firm. Chuck focuses on consulting for closely held businesses, including valuations, succession and estate planning; along with tax preparation and planning.

Joe has served clients in a wide range of industries and has been a practicing CPA for over 30 years providing extensive accounting, tax preparation, and proactive planning services to small business and individuals with the latest online accounting solutions. Joe is known for establishing long-lasting relationships with his clients. His approach to serving his clients is simple. Anne has been a practicing CPA for more than 25 years. She works with small business owners and entrepreneurs at all stages of a business's life cycle. She has extensive experience in tax preparation and planning for businesses and individuals, and is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Anne views her role as a partner and resource provider for business owners, allowing them to concentrate on their core competencies. A graduate of Towson University with degrees in mathematics and business, Anne is a member of the Maryland Association of CPAs, where she has served on the small business committee, and of the Maryland Society of Accountants.
